SAN ANTONIO – Boerne High opened its fall team tennis season last weekend under new coach Tyson Stewart.
It was a homecoming of sorts for Stewart since the Greyhounds were playing in the Northside ISD tournament, where Stewart came from. He previously coached at NISD school Harlan.
Boerne High posted a 2-2 record at the event where they finished sixth overall. They are scheduled to host Smithson Valley on Tuesday, 4 p.m.
The Greyhound stringers opened with a 10-3 win over Harlingen South. BHS was ahead after doubles, 4-3, and won the next six singles matches to secure the victory.
Up next on Friday, the Greyhounds lost to San Angelo Central, 10-2.
On Saturday, BHS played Del Rio and won the match 11-7 to face Champion for fifth place. The Chargers defeated the Greyhounds 10-7 to leave BHS at 2-2 for the tourney.
