2-0

Boerne High had a fast start to its 2022 volleyball season after the Lady Greyhounds hosted two matches on Tuesday and didn’t drop a set in either match.

BHS swept Providence, 25-18, 25-17, 25-21, and later in the evening, swept Comfort, 25-16, 25-17, 25-17.

Boerne starts the year at 2-0 and plays in the Northside Tournament this weekend. They open with pool play against Smithson Valley, Warren and Roosevelt on Friday. Lady Greyhounds coach Tisha Pettibon said the team improved as the night went on during Tuesday’s doubleheader.

“We progressively got better with the things we wanted to work on from one match to the next which shows coachability and team chemistry,” she said. “We were pretty good out of system and you’re usually not this early in the season, but if you’re communicating you can be.”

In the third set against the Deer, the Lady Greyhounds had a big advantage but Comfort served well and cut into the lead, forcing Pettibon to call a timeout. They righted the ship and closed it out from there.

“We made some adjustments in serve-receive and we were able to side out,” she said. “We figured it out.”
