Boerne Police have identified the individual involved in a shooting on Monday, August 1, at the Woodland Apartments located at 150 Medical Drive.
According to information from the city of Boerne, at 1:46 p.m., the Boerne Police Department responded to the report of shots fired. The 9-1-1 callers advised they heard five to six shots fired and they saw several individuals running from the pool area. Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies arrived on scene and gathered more information.
The suspect, identified as Robert Anthony Limauro, 36, fired several rounds from a handgun in Building 4 of the complex, the city's information stated. It’s believed Limauro barricaded himself in an apartment on either the second or third floor.
After speaking with the witnesses, investigators learned Limauro had approached a neighbor upstairs from his unit and attempted to push/pull her into her own apartment at gunpoint, information stated. The woman was able to pull away from Limauro and run to safety. As she was running away, she told investigators she heard several gunshots behind her.
Members of the Boerne Emergency Response Team and the Hostage Negotiations Team responded to the scene. Several attempts were made at establishing phone contact with Limauro, but all were unsuccessful. At about 3:45 p.m., as members of the Emergency Response Team were safely evacuating residents, Limauro was located on the third-floor breezeway unresponsive with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the city's information stated.
Kendall County EMS and members of the Boerne Fire Department attempted lifesaving efforts, but he had already succumbed to his injury, the information stated. Limauro was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Debbie Hudson and transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Next of kin has been notified.
The city's investigation has determined Limauro fired a total of six rounds from a semi-automatic 9mm handgun. No other individuals were injured during this incident. This case is still active, and the investigation is ongoing, the city stated.
