The Boerne Star is making some exciting changes to the newspaper starting in mid-August, and it will directly affect the paper’s sports coverage.
Beginning on Aug. 17, the Star will switch to Wednesday and Saturday/ Sunday publication dates from its current Tuesday and Friday format. The weekend edition will be “beefier” while the Wednesday edition will be online only.
Some of the exciting news is that with the change, The Star will be able to include Friday night football game stories and scores in the weekend edition. Instead of waiting until the following Tuesday to read about the previous Friday’s game, the stories will be available a day later.
“I’m excited about the change, and I’m glad we’ll be able to report on Friday night football games and get the results in the paper the very next day,” Star Sports Editor Kerry Barboza said. “Before I came to the Star more than 20 years ago, I used to work at a daily newspaper in North Carolina where we had deadlines every night, and this change reminds me of those days.”
With the changes, the Boerne Star remains committed to providing the best local coverage, something the paper has been doing for more than 100 years.
