The internet, cell phones and social media have given everyone a platform to express their opinions. Many of the comments and criticisms have caused us to be a hostile society.
Now, the city of Boerne wants me to rat out my neighbor if they are not in compliance with the water conservation restrictions. Please, no!
I monitor our water meter and have since I moved here because our provider (SJW Canyon Lake) has super high rates. I live inside Boerne city limits, but my subdivision is supposed to abide by SJW restriction rules.
Not knowing that, someone ratted out one of my neighbors who was watering within the SJW restrictions and, of course, it made her angry. We just don’t need any more reasons to be mad at one another. Inflation, gas prices, shortages, politics and the temperatures outside have made us angry enough!
I think a better idea would be for our water suppliers to tell us how many gallons we can use and let us police ourselves. Those that use too much water could be penalized with a surcharge.
