November 1, 1936 – July 17, 2022

 

Jack Hudkins was born Nov. 1, 1936, to Ernest and Melissa Fern Hudkins in Parsons, Kansas, and passed away on July 17, 2022, with his wife, Valeska (Babs), at his side at the age of 85.

Jack is survived by his wife, Valeska (Babs); son Jay Maurice and wife Becky; grandsons Jackson Manning and Jonas Mark of Little Rock, Arkansas; son John Eric of Sisterdale; and granddaughter Emma Irene and grandson James Emmitt of San Antonio; and three nieces. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William, Eugene and Benny; and sisters Leona, Virginia, Hazel and Bonnie.

Jack graduated from Midland High School in 1955. During his high school years he worked as a manager of the variety store and later at Midland National Bank. He was drafted into the military in 1959 and discharged in 1961 from Ft. Sam Houston. 

He sought employment at Frost National Bank in San Antonio, retiring as senior vice president in 1996. He met and married Valeska, who was working as a secretary at the bank. They have been married 58 years. Upon retirement, they moved to the family ranch. He and “Babs” worked as a team doing everything together with the help and advice from neighbors.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 21, at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Comfort. A visitation will be held on Thursday July 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Comfort. Graveside Services and interment will follow in the Sisterdale Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Sisterdale School House.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jack’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Pallbearers are Robert Haile, George Umphres, Roy Lee Kneupper, Cody Kneupper, Cody Peese and Stephen Sandlin.
