You are cordially invited to join us on Thursday, July 28, at Herff Farm for the Boerne After 5 mixer in partnership with the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce. At the event, chamber and Cibolo members will have the chance to see the new facilities at Herff Farm and learn about the myriad of great programs on both sides of the creek.
Tours of the farm, gardens, historic barn and the Herff homestead will be available.
Recently, the Cibolo has expanded space and programming at Herff Farm to include the Nest Nature School and new additions at the Saturday farmers market. We are excited to offer more regular programming for families and adults throughout the year. We’ve also increased our variety of vendors at the farmers market to include more food trucks and artisanal craftsmen.
Herff Farm usually is open to the public only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays during the farmers market. The mixer gives insider access and a look into all the Cibolo does.
Our new Art in Conservation series now offers weekly art classes on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon in the Herff Farm Homestead. By creating more experiences at the farm, residents can enjoy the serene and picturesque scenery around the property while inspiring connections to the conserved lands we manage.
With a new demonstration kitchen in the Gathering Hall near the Nest Nature School campus, we can host more cooking and food-related experiences, like pasta and cheese-making and charcuterie classes with Socially Cured. Currently, folks can register to participate in a class with nationally recognized foraging instructor, author and cook Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen, who will lead a course on the ancient art of cheese making on Saturday, July 30, at Herff Farm.
The mixer also is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Cibolo’s ongoing volunteer opportunities. Much of our land and gardens are thriving today because dedicated volunteers donate their time to maintain our green spaces. We also have a volunteer program for teens over age 13.
The Trailblazer Teen Volunteer Program gets up close and personal with the Cibolo, learning everything from land management to community science and animal presentations. You will find these fine young folks working to remove invasive plants on the weekends and leading tour groups during our monthly night hikes.
Like the Cibolo Nature Center, Herff Farm is full of beautiful trails and spots where you can sit and take in nature. We hope you will join us at the mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. If you’ve never been to Herff Farm, this is an event you will not want to miss.
Learn more about our pro grams at www.cibolo.org.
Please RSVP for the mixer with Cecilie Lamb at cecilie@ cibolo.org or call 830-388-7685. We hope to see you at the farm!
