The Boerne High baseball team had six players named all-district after the 2022 season but some key injuries likely kept a couple more players from making the list.

Boerne senior Rashawn Galloway was named the 28-4A MVP, senior Xander Cloudy and senior Andrew Poole were both first-team pitchers, junior Cam Johnson was a firstteam shortstop and senior Kalob Sanchez was a first-team outfielder, while junior Tyle Garritano was a second-team third baseman.

The Hounds had a couple of key injuries during district play but overcame the setbacks and went on to win this year’s district title with a 9-1 record.

No doubt injuries to junior Riley Pechacek and senior Cole Phillips kept them from being named all-district as well. Both will be D-1 players in college after Pechacek just committed to the University of Houston and Phillips, a fireballer who was throwing 100- miles per hour, signed with the University of Arkansas.

Once the playoffs started, BHS swept Gonzales in the opening round and then handled Sweeny in the second-round in a onegame playoff.

Up next, Boerne swept Rockport-Fulton and closed it out with a Pechacek walk-off homer to advance to the fourth round or regional semis where they faced Calallen.

The Wildcats took the first game, Boerne won the second and then Calallen closed it out with a 2-1 win in Game 3 as Wildcats coach Steve Chapman became the alltime winningest coach in Texas high school baseball history with 1,116 victories.

Boerne ended its season with a record of 33-5.
