Boerne High had 12 softball players receive all-district recognition after voting by the 28-4A coaches.
Of the dozen players recognized, three of them received superlative honors after junior Ava Rodriguez was named the 28-4A MVP, junior Heidi Maytum was co-Defensive MVP and senior Brooke Sivek was named the Offensive MVP.
Senior Madi Dorrow was a first-team pitcher, while junior Cameron Cooper, junior Taryn Madlock, junior Ava Nieto and senior Reese Wilson were named to the first-team.
Sophomore Taylor Wilson was a second-team Utility Player, while honorable mention selections for the Lady Hounds were junior Isa Renteria, freshman Ava Renteria and senior Dillen Cooper.
The Lady Hounds had a great regular season, particularly in district, but didn’t have the kind of deep playoff run they were hoping for.
Boerne rolled through 28-4A play with a 10-0 mark and had run-rule victories in nine of the 10 district games. Once the playoffs started, BHS run-ruled Gonzales in the opening round by a combined score of 27-0 in the best-of-three series.
Boerne then swept Needville in the second round and faced West Columbia in the third round. BHS won the first game, 7-3, but West Columbia took the second game, 6-4, to force a third game where they defeated the Lady Hounds 5-1 to end Boerne’s season at 29-7.
