Traffic along River Road, especially the stretch from Main Street down to Plant Street, has become frighteningly dangerous and unpleasant in the last year.
What had been initially built as a country lane is now turned into what would more befit a full-on interstate highway, with a constant stream of non-local vehicles juggernauting past at speeds of 55-70. Many of them are huge semi-rigs and industrial vehicles spewing dust, dirt, gravel and grit, making a very loud roar which is tantamount to real noise pollution.
People who wish to walk, cross, push strollers or bicycle increasingly take their lives into their own hands when negotiating this stretch of River Road. Something really needs to be done here to limit and control the amount, vehicle type and driving speed of vehicles of this stretch of River Road, for it is increasingly infringing upon the quality of life for Boerne citizens who, oh yes, still live along this road.
At the very least, I would request more police presence to slow down the behemoths that have taken over this street.
