The Kendall County Fair Association Inc. recently announced the winners of the Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall Scholarship Program for 2022. The Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall was established in 2008 when the association became an IRS designated 501(c)3 corporations and the exhibit hall became a program to comply with the mission and vision statements of the association.
Five applicants applied and they were chosen and each awarded a $1,000 scholarship to help fund payments from tuition to books at their selected college.
“It is our honor to present these five outstanding young adults a scholarship,” said Marilyn Culak, Kendall County Fair Association director and director of the Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall.
The five recipients are:
• Lacey Asher, daughter of Wes and Michelle Asher of Boerne. She is a graduate of Boerne High School and will be attending the University of Texas at San Antonio to pursue a career in physical therapy.
• Natalie Burkholder, daughter of James and Alison Burkholder of Boerne. She is a graduate of Texas Connections Academy At Houston and will be attending Loyola University New Orleans studying biology/biological sciences with the hope to become a dentist or orthodontist and open a practice in Boerne.
• Madeline McFarland, daughter of Brad and Rebecca McFarland of Boerne. She is a graduate of Heritage Hilltop Home School Academy and is pursuing a career in agribusiness. She will be attending Texas A&M University.
• Nathan Wilson, son of Dustin and Jennifer Wilson of Comfort. He is a graduate of Comfort High School and will be attending Texas A&M University at College Station pursuing a career in agribusiness.
• Shelby Wright, daughter of Lisa and Nolan Wright of Boerne. She is a graduate of Boerne High School and will be attending Texas A&M University pursuing a career in biomedical science.
The Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall Scholarship Program is funded by donations, sponsorships and/or proceeds of raffles and other fundraising opportunities such as the annual garage sale held in March, and from donations exhibitors donate back during the annual Kendall County Fair.
