Cibolo Summer Camp offers fun and more

From June to August, the Cibolo Center for Conservation’s two campuses are full of fun, laughter and children enjoying summer camp. We invite all children from ages 5 to 15 to come to the Cibolo this summer to enjoy fun activities like swimming the creek and archery while learning and playing in nature.

For the next eight weeks, the Cibolo will host a variety of activities for our campers with some classic favorites like Wet & Wild Week to new themes like Nature Cuisine Cooking Week. While summer is a great time for children to recharge and connect with people rather than devices, we’ve made sure to include some fun science-light activities, too. The learning and the fun never stop at the Cibolo, and we hope your children will get the much-needed outdoor time they crave this time of year with us!

We offer three types of camps, which include Nature Camp, Art Camp and a separate camp for older teens ages 13-15 called Trailblazers Camp.

Nature Camp will nurture an appreciation of nature while giving kids opportunities for learning through play and other hands-on activities. Children will hike, explore, and have adventures while having fun in our many ecosystems with creek time and archery every week.

Art Camp will explore artistic techniques using nature as the tool for creating unique works of art.

Each week of Cibolo Summer Camp is themed with specialty outlined activities. Some of those themes include Survival Week where children will learn the basics of wilderness survival navigating through the four ecosystems of the Cibolo while learning how to use a compass and how to collect water. So much fun!

In the afternoons, campers can spend time channeling their creativity with Art Camp. We are so excited to bring art camp activities to both sides of the creek while learning important basic life skills.

Nature Cuisine Week will connect kids with the farm-to-table process as they create delicious and nutritious meals using ingredients they pick from the gardens at Herff Farm.

Older children won’t get left behind at the Cibolo as our Trailblazers Camp is designed to teach teens more about our land and ecosystems. This separate camp will still include plenty of creek time and archery while also learning about invasive plants and research activities like butterfly tagging.

The Cibolo is excited to welcome our young professional camp counselors, junior counselors and counselors in training back to camp this summer. Many of these young folks have been attending camp at the Cibolo for years, and it is such a wonderful thing to see them transition from camper to counselor. It has now become a third-generation camp with past campers becoming counselors then becoming adults and now sending their children to camp.

There are still limited spots available for camp. To register go to Cibolo.org. Some weeks are already full so get your kids signed up soon. Cibolo members receive a $30 discount per camp. Call 830-249-4616 to inquire about membership and the discount code.
