January is upon us – often a quiet month after the hubbub of the holidays.
And it becomes clearer each day that the omicron COVID variant is also upon us, a fact that encourages us to seek outdoor activities, even in January! Come to Comfort and check out these options!
Just in the nick of time, the 8th Street Market will dazzle you with an amazingly creative idea that takes place in their very own back yard. It’s called Revive, Refresh, Renew – and it goes like this:
Imagine that you are a vendor and you have discovered that various items in your booth have just not met up with their new owner. And imagine that you’ve been doing this for many years and have thus accumulated quite a collect of unclaimed treasures. Now, multiply your items by 35 vendors, all ready to clear out their storage units, and what do you have? A huge yard sale like none other!
This event will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 28-30, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., all three days. Items will be priced to sell, so you can expect to find some great bargains. You will also be able to purchase breakfast and lunch items from Comfort Coffee which is right inside the 8th Street Market. Its menu is sure to please most any palate. Bring a mask for indoor use to be safe.
Just around the corner from the 8th Street Market, you will find High’s Café and Store, a place that has become iconic in Comfort. It is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
There, you can enjoy soups, sandwiches, salads and specials, along with a select menu called High’s Happy, that’s offered from 4 to 6 p.m. And the best news is that you can sit outside amid trees and plants, and away from all those pesky germs.
Next, we invite you to head out into the country to Bending Branch Winery, located at 142 Lindner Branch Road. It is open seven days a week, from noon until 6 p.m., and an added bonus is that you get to sit outside.
The views from the winery’s several seating areas are spectacular, and the wines are award-winning and excellent. Bending Branch specializes in reds, and their whites, even though fewer in number, are quite excellent.
Another important point about all these great spots to visit is that when you support them, you are shopping local and helping to ensure that these folks will be able to stay in business so that you can count on them for years to come.
So now for just a couple more outdoor options. Comfort is home to a fabulous golf course, The Buckhorn. Enjoy one of the best fresh-air outdoor activities. These folks offer great deals for families, so head on out there for a round or two.
And last but not least, don’t forget Comfort Park. Bring a picnic, check out the Gazebo and the playground. Enjoy the fresh air and know, beyond a doubt, that a visit to Comfort can always be a charming and delightful experience.
Till next time, stay safe.
