The Boerne American Legion Post 313 and Boerne VFW Post 688 are playing host to an inaugural event honoring Texas women veterans at 1 p.m. Sunday at Veterans Plaza, 801 S. Main St.
The master of ceremonies will be Betty Moseley Brown, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of the local Legion post. During the ceremony, a salute to women’s veterans will be given and four women will speak: Army MSG Paula Wells, Marine Corps Major
Christina Hennessey-Samsa, Navy veteran Bonnie Valles and Air Force MG Dixie Morrow, all retired military.
On June 9, 2017, Texas Senate Bill 805 was signed into law designating June 12 as Women Veterans Day.
