Boerne ISD has partnered with the Kendall County Fair Association to lease the ag barn at the fairgrounds on River Road on Boerne’s southeast side. The building will serve as Boerne ISD’s ag barn and animal science center and will be accessible to all district students.
Boerne High School Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor Kathleen Young will serve as Boerne ISD’s ag barn manager.
“We are excited about continuing to honor our community’s strong agricultural heritage,” Boerne ISD Superintendent Thomas Price said. “The rich agricultural history of Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch and Kendall County is simply amazing, and we look forward to the future by using this incredible facility for our students at all grade levels.”
Information from BISD stated the district is grateful for the KCFA’s generosity and especially for KCFA President Shane Boerner and 1st Vice President Billy Shussler.
“This is only possible because of their leadership and vision,” a district press release stated.
“BISD also thanks the Kendall County Junior Livestock Association and its president, Joe Lozano, all our agricultural science and technology teachers at Boerne and Champion high schools and all of the FFA and 4-H parents who have provided their valuable guidance and advice,” the press release stated. “Our continued collaborative efforts will make this a great success for the school district and community.”
