Geneva athletes earn 5 medals at state track and field meet

Geneva School of Boerne sent several athletes to compete at the recent TAPPS 5A State Track and Field Meet and Geneva athletes earned five state medals, two of them gold.

Geneva School of Boerne sent several athletes to compete at the recent TAPPS 5A State Track and Field Meet and Geneva athletes earned five state medals, two of them gold.

Isabella Godoy, a junior, won gold in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.65 and also took first in the 1600 meters after recording a 5:17.79.

Nicolas Siller was also a double-medal winner after he earned bronze in two events. Siller, a senior, placed third in the 3200 with a time of 9:48.21 and also finished third in the 1600 after he posted a 4:29.42.

Senior Avery Myrick claimed silver in the discus with a throw of 127-08 to take second place. This is the second year in a row that Myrick has placed second.

Also, the 4x400 girls relay of Kaitlyn Cates, Kailey Stringfellow, Lindsie Baggs and Godoy placed 5th with a time of 4:15.54 to earn 8 points and set a new school record in the event.

The Geneva girls finished seventh as a team with 36 points, while Siller earned 12 points for the boys team that came in 19th.
