The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team picked up district wins in its last two games.
Geneva defeated St. Mary’s Hall on Tuesday and last Friday they whipped Austin Regents.
Geneva is 18-1 overall and 8-0 in district. They tangle with Brentwood Christian on Friday.
Vs. St. Mary’s Hall
Geneva doubled up St. Mary’s Hall, 52-26.
The Eagles had two players finish in double digits after Sydney Griffey tallied 13 and Micah Howard dropped in 11.
Maegan Riebel and Chloe Donnell both netted 8 points, Alexa Elizondo had 5, Madeline Egbert scored 3, while Suzie Nilsson and Brynn Riebel both recorded 2 points.
Maegan Riebel grabbed 7 rebounds, Griffey and Brynn Riebel both pulled down 6 boards, Elizondo and Griffey dished out 2 assists and Donnell came up with 6 steals.
Vs. Austin Regents
Geneva faced a struggling team when they tangled with Austin Regents last Friday.
The Eagles only yielded five points and defeated the Austin school, 58-5.
The Eagles were up 19-0 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored Regents in the second period, 17-3, for the 36-3 halftime lead.
Regents didn’t score a point for the second time in a quarter and was outscored in the third, 15-0, to give Geneva a 51-3 advantage.
In the fourth period, the Eagles closed it out by winning the stanza, 7-2.
A total of 13 Geneva athletes took at least one shot in the game and 11 of them scored but only one was in double digits after freshman Maegan Riebel led all scorers with 13 points.
Alexa Elizondo netted 9 points, Suzie Nilsson and Micah Howard both scored 6, while Chloe Donnell, Sydney Griffey, Lindsay Lee, Bethany DeLuna and Brynn Riebel all finished with 4 points and Kyra Petty and Ainsley McCloy both added 2.
Griffey recorded 6 rebounds and Howard snagged 5 boards, Donnell dished out 2 assists and came up with 4 steals and Elizondo had 5 steals.
