Boerne Art Waddle, celebrating its 10th year, begins Friday afternoon at Tusculum Brewing Company on the Hill Country Mile for a Meet the Artists reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Featured artist Katrina Gorman will be available to share her creative spirit and sign this year’s art poster inspired by her fabric painting “New Smiles.”
Partnering galleries Carriage House Gallery, Gallery 195 and Texas Treasures invite you to visit their represented artists at each of their locations as we celebrate the arts in the Texas Hill Country. Helotes Gallery has also partnered with the Art Waddle and will be represented during Saturday’s waddle along the Cibolo Creek Trail.
This year’s Art Waddle continues on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and includes activities for the entire family throughout the day. Along with the main attraction of meeting with, and perhaps purchasing from, 30-plus of the Hill Country’s finest and fun artists, adults can grab a Cibolo Creek Brewery crafted beer or a cup of wine from Esperanza Winery, accompanied by a culinary treat from our food vendors. Children along with families can visit the Cibolo Conservation Center and Board and Brush Studios booths to create a masterpiece – individual paintings, a community mural and hand-painted trash cans for the AgriCultural Museum and Arts Centers.
Art Waddle provides funds each year to benefit Cibolo Conservation Center Art Camps.
To help set the mood for the day, music will be performed in the morning by the Swingin’ Swains and in the afternoon by Texas songwriter and musician David Patrick Dunn.
The Swingin’ Swains perform a genre-hopping sound of swing/jazz, Latin and Texas styles. It incorporates theater and mood-filled songs.
Some say Dunn personifies Texas: “With a gift for storytelling, beautiful melodies, haunting lyrics and a dash of lyrical humor, he has a unique style all his own.”
Board and Brush Studio is a featured vendor and will be offering its Sunflower Trio make-and-take project. Registration is not required, and proceeds will benefit the Cibolo Conservation Center.
The Cibolo Conservation Center Art Camps ignite children’s creativity with support and learning about many artistic mediums. Children are able to explore nature, and create art projects they create from objects found in the great outdoors.
