The Champion boys basketball team capped a great season by having several players earn postseason awards.
In 26-5A, senior Jesse Peart was named the District MVP and junior Braden Baum was named Offensive MVP.
Senior Braxton Burdick was a firstteam selection, while sophomore Charlie Georgelos and senior Owen Tate were both second-team picks.
Also, senior Hunter Lampkin and sophomore Ryan Erdos were named honorable mention.
Besides the all-district selections, Peart was a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 5A All-State Player, a TABC All-Star Selection, a TABC All-Region Player, a S3ABC All-Star selection and the Chicken Express All-Star Game MVP.
Senior Luke Garver was a 1st Team Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State and TABC Academic All-State pick.
Lampkin was an honorable mention THSCA Academic All-State and TABC Academic All-State pick, while Tate was also named TABC Academic All-State.
The Chargers had a great season that ended at the 5A state tournament in the Alamodome. Champion went 33-7 this year, won the region title and then played Mansfield Timberview in the 5A state semifinals before they were eliminated from the playoffs, 55-43.
It was the first trip to state for the Charger boys basketball team.
