Boerne High opened the softball playoffs with a dominating performance against Gonzales in first-round action last week in Marion.
The Lady Greyhounds swept the Apaches and didn’t allow a hit or a run in both games that ended in five innings via the run rule.
Boerne took the first game on Thursday, 10-0, and then closed it out with a 17-0 performance on Saturday to improve to 26-5 overall.

Boerne threw two different pitchers at Gonzales and both were untouchable. Ava Rodriguez pitched in Game 1 and struck out 12 batters, which means the team only had to come up with three outs in the field. She walked three batters.
The team came up with 13 hits and 10 RBI and had doubles from Madi Dorrow, Heidi Maytum, Ava Nieto and Reese Wilson, while Cameron Cooper scored twice.
Dorrow pitched in Game 2 and was just as dominant. The senior also fanned 12 and walked 3.
The Boerne bats were hot as the team finished with 17 hits, 17 runs and 14 RBI.
Rodriguez hurt the Apaches with her stick in this game and hit a home run, while Taryn Madlock, Ava Nieto and Taylor Wilson ripped triples and Dorrow, Nieto and Isa Renteria all doubled.
Brooke Sivek hit 3 singles, Nieto drove in 4 runs, while Madlock and Taylor Wilson scored 3 runs each.
