The Boerne High baseball team finished off Fredericksburg Friday at home and pulled off the sweep of the Battlin’ Billies.

Boerne won Friday’s game 11-1 in six innings after defeating the Billies on Tuesday, 9-0.

The Greyhounds are 25-3 overall and 7-1 in district. They face Wimberley twice this week to close out the regular season. Two BHS wins against the Texans and they’ll claim the 28-4A title. (See adjacent story).

Tyler Garritano had a big day at the plate on Friday and helped the Hounds jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first with a 3-run homer and they never trailed from there.

Fred scored its only run in the second, but the Hounds answered with 4 more in the third for the 8-1 lead. In the sixth, Garritano ended the game with a 2-RBI double to kick in the mercy rule.

Garritano also added a single to his double and homer and just missed hitting for the cycle. He finished with 6 RBI and 2 runs scored, while Xander Cloudy doubled and drove in 2 runs and scored.

Kalob Sanchez singled and scored twice; Rashawn Galloway, who homered twice against the Billies on Tuesday, was hit twice in the game by Billies pitchers and scored twice; Andrew Poole drove in a run; Dylan Perez scored once; Hutson Hendrix singled and Max Garcia plated a run.

Poole went 6 innings on the hill and picked up the win on 74 pitches. He fanned 8, gave up 3 hits and 1 run and didn’t walk a batter.
