Boerne is growing and changing without losing its identity, a feat that’s been an intentional labor of love made by so many leaders across our community.
I know what drew my family to the Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch area. When I meet new families and ask them why they made a similar choice, they describe a set of things that I’ve started referring to as the “Boerne ISD advantage.”
This advantage is multifaceted. Families are choosing to join us because of our deep commitment to morals, family and tradition. For some who were raised in Texas, this area is a destination because it retained the small-town values that other areas may have lost over the last few decades. We’re close to major cities but retain incredible charm.
And, while we haven’t been the setting of a Hallmark movie yet, this area very well could be. It’s a place where traffic halts for ducks to safely cross the street. Kids ride their bikes around town en masse. Parades are thrown when the Little League team makes it to the World Series. And the Hill Country Mile transforms into a magical Christmas experience.
In Boerne, we are deeply invested in what is local. We are equally invested in what’s right.
A significant reason why people are choosing to live here is our exceptional public education. Boerne ISD is strong because of our teachers, administrators and the incredible opportunities we provide students.
Our staff goes beyond what’s required on a daily basis and provides an education that inspires, challenges and ignites our students’ passions.
For the past few years, we have invested deeply in training our teachers and school leaders so that we can maintain our “A” rating and meet the changing needs of our state. Being A-rated is a classification that only the very best public schools in Texas receive.
Boerne ISD is among the very best. We are proud of our 99% graduation rate and equally proud of the 90% of our graduates who are certified as college, career and military ready upon graduation.
Our students gain invaluable hands-on skills, earn college credit, work in internships and become more confident and thoughtful members of our community — all within Boerne ISD limits.
Perhaps most importantly, though, our students live out what they believe. Character development is embedded in our curriculum, from kindergarten through high school graduation.
We graduate students who are courageous, have integrity, understand the importance of truth and being trustworthy, and who are good, patriotic citizens.
These incredible people are beginning to flock back to the place that raised them, because of these beliefs. Our graduates become business owners, parents, employees and highly engaged community members who give back to their communities, look out for each other and cheer one another on.
A Boerne ISD education means something in the state of Texas and represents our community well.
Being a Boerne ISD graduate speaks to the values our young people are raised with — and which get reinforced by the educators who show them what’s possible when they put their natural talents to solve problems inside classrooms, in communities and around the world.
