Comfort Deer sweep Brady in softball

The Comfort softball team was on the road Monday at Brady and defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 7-4.

Comfort completed the sweep against Brady after de-feating them back on March 31. It’s their first sweep of a district opponent this season.

CHS is 3-5 in district and overall. The Deer were off Fri-day and close out the regular season next week against Blanco. They visit the Panthers on Monday and host them on Thursday.

After a scoreless first frame, Comfort scored at least a run over the next four innings to get its 7 runs. They scored a run in the second, 3 in the third, 2 in the fourth and another in the fifth on a solo home run by Taygan Rust and were up 7-0.

Brady finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth and it was 7-2. The Bulldogs made it interesting and tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh. They used 3 walks and scored 2 runs and the Comfort lead was down to 7-4, but the rally ended there.

Comfort finished with 14 hits, including the Rust homer. Kaydence Stehling finished with 3 singles and 2 RBI, Moorea Davis doubled and smacked 2 singles, picked up 2 RBI and scored a run, Hope Van Geffen hit 2 singles and scored and Faith Diaz de Villegas singled, drove in a run and crossed home plate twice.

Ella Thiele went all 7 innings in the circle to get the win and she scattered 6 hits, gave up no earned runs, 7 walks and struck out 8 batters.
