Geneva softball splits its last two contests

Geneva School of Boerne played a couple of softball games this week against Schertz John Paul II and New Braunfels Christian Academy and split the two.

Geneva run ruled JP II and was run ruled by NBCA. Their loss to NBCA is their first of the season and leaves them at 5-1 this year.

The Eagles played JP II on Friday.

Vs. Schertz JPII

Schertz John Paul II beat the Lady Eagles in five innings, 13-3.

Geneva took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to a Kate Friesenhahn home run. The Eagles were up 2-1 at the end of the inning, but the Guardians scored 5 in both the second and third frames to pull ahead, 11-2.

After scoring 2 in the first, Geneva didn’t get on the board again until the fifth to make it 11-3, but the Guardians plated 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to kick in the mercy rule.

Geneva finished with 4 hits, compared to 12 for JPII. Friesenhahn had a good day at the plate and had 2 of their 4 hits after going 2 for 3 with a home run and a double.
