Geneva boys win district title in tennis, girls are third

The Geneva School of Boerne boys and girls varsity tennis teams competed at their recent district tournament and one of the squads claimed a league title.

At the district tourney held at the Newcombe courts in New Braunfels, the Geneva boys won the league title, while the Lady Eagles were third behind Schertz John Paul II and New Braunfels Christian Academy.

Prior to that, some of the Geneva players were entered in the Venomous Volley Tennis Tournament held in San Marcos.

The following Geneva players will move on to play at the TAPPS State Tennis Tournament on April 7-8 in Waco.

Girls Doubles

Mary Simpson and Siena Svendsen from Geneva were district girls doubles champions for the second year in a row. This will be their third straight state tournament appearance.

Boys Doubles

The district boys doubles finals was all Geneva after Alex Malouf and Grant Dillinger took first place over teammates Teagan Fikes and Ray Reynolds.

Girls Singles

Audrey Lapacka took fourth place and will be going to the state

tournament for the second year in a row.

Mixed Doubles

Ella Dillinger, a member of the fifth-place girls doubles team and Jared Bass, who took sixth in boys singles, will combine to play mixed doubles at the state tournament. This is Dillinger’s second straight year playing at the state tournament.

Venomous Volley Tennis Tournament

Prior to their district tourney, several Geneva players were entered in the Venomous Volley Tennis Tournament held in San Marcos.

In girls doubles, Mary Simpson and Siena Svendsen took second place overall, while the boys doubles team of Teagan Fikes and Ray Reynolds was third place overall.
