The Boerne High softball team faced district- leading Smithson Valley Tuesday and the Rangers put on a hitting clinic with three home runs in one inning.
Smithson Valley went on to win the game 18-0 and remained unbeaten in 26-5A at 11-0. Boerne is 8-8 overall and 4-8 in district.
The Lady Hounds were at Boerne Champion Friday and then host Alamo Heights on Tuesday.
BHS kept it close for three innings and was only trailing 2-0 when the game went to the top of the fourth but that’s when the Rangers blew the lid off the game.
Smithson Valley sent 12 to the plate in that inning and put its first seven batters on before BHS could record an out. The Rangers recorded 8 hits in the inning, including 3 home runs, 2 from Zoey Allison, who finished with 5 RBI in the game.
Smithson Valley scored 9 runs in the frame and then added 7 more runs in the top of the fifth. Instead of 3 homers, they used 3 doubles in the fifth to push in their 7 runs.
Lizzy Thornton recorded Boerne’s only hit and was their only base runner all night, while Jesseanna Aguirre went all five innings in the circle.
