Chargers, Greyhounds race at Texas Relays

Boerne ISD was well represented at last weekend’s Texas Relays held in Austin on the University of Texas campus.

It was the final meet before the District 26-5A event scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at Rutledge Field.

The Chargers had seven entries at the event and one of those medaled, while another set a new school record in their respective race.

Charlie Houck placed third in the 3200 with a time of 9:09.71 to pick up a bronze medal, while Houck was part of the boys distance medley relay that finished 5th and set a new school record.

Houck, Jamarri Bowie, Caleb Dehart and Luis Tovar combined for a time of 10:22.84 in the DMR to set the record.

The girls distance medley relay consisting of Rebecca Bezerra, Michelle Cerna, Madison Mungia and Payton Kidder finished 10th with a time of 12:41.

The boys Sprint Medley Relay of Zach Garcia, Bowie, Tovar and Dehart finished 6th in 3:31.63, while the 4x800 relay consisting of Tovar, Houck, Shawn Edwards and Mason Nelson came in 12th in 8:16.35.

Madison Meinke ran in the 100 and clocked in at 12.55 and Jamarri Bowie was entered in the 100-yard dash.

The Greyhounds had one entry at the Texas Relays and the boys Distance Medley Relay set a new school record in the process.

Aaron Garcia, Jackson Temple, Barrett Crofut and Valor Menn combined for a time of 10:38.43 that was good for 10th place and a new school mark.

The Champion girls distance medley relay consisting of Rebecca Bezerra, Michelle Cerna, Madison Mungia and Payton Kidder ran at the Texas Relays.
The boys distance medley relay of Jamarri Bowie, Charlie Houck, Luis Tovar and Caleb Dehart finished 5th in their race and finished with a school-record time.
