Edgar Degas said, "Drawing is not what you see but what you must make others see" -- case in point Tuesday at the annual Boerne ISD Art Show at the Patrick Heath Public Library.

"The artist begins with a vision -- a creative operation requiring effort. Creativity takes courage." -- Henri Matisse

Students among the Boerne Independent School District hung their excellent work on the walls of the Patrick Heath Public Library April 1. The annual Boerne ISD Art Show featured works of art from hundreds of students, from kindergarten to 12th grade, for several hours, for all to see. Pastels, photos, sketches, clip art -- attendees marveled at the impressive projects and the skill level on display.

Here are but a few shots taken during the event, complete with orchestral arrangements from the Champion High School orchestra.

Champion High School junior Juliette Betz stands beside her stunning digital photography entry that received a Judge's Choice Honorary Mention in the Boerne ISD Art Show.

Scores of attendees leaned in for closer looks at student art hanging in four separate rooms and on two floors of the Patrick Heath Public Library during the April 1 annual Boerne ISD Art Show.

Mayte Nunez, right, and Kaylie Brown, juniors playing the viola, were part of the Champion High School orchestra that provided live entertainment during the April 1 Boerne ISD Art Show in the Patrick Heath Public Library.

Sophomore Matthew McPherron is a study in concentration as the Champion High School Orchestra plays several pieces during the April 1 Boerne ISD Art Show in the Patrick Heath Public Library.

Kendall Elementary first grader Mitchell Hanes nailed it, capturing his alphabet soup lunch for all to see -- including an actual spoon and napkin attached to his oil pastel/marker piece.
