Fair Oaks Ranch ranked among state’s safest cities

Fair Oaks Ranch has been recognized as one of the safest cities in Texas, ranking 16th in the latest SafeWise report.

This marks a significant improvement, with the city moving up 18 spots from the previous year. It is also the only city in our region to place in the Top 20.

“This ranking reflects the continued efforts of both law enforcement and the community in making Fair Oaks Ranch a secure and welcoming place to live,” according to a report on the city’s website.

Over the past year, the city has seen a decline in both violent and property crime, “a trend that highlights the effectiveness of proactive policing strategies and strong community involvement,” the report said.

In 2025, the violent crime rate was recorded at 0.3 per 1,000 residents, down from 0.6 in 2024 and 0.4 in 2023. The property crime rate also showed positive movement, dropping to 8.4 in 2025 from 11.2 in 2024, following a low of 5.2 in 2023.

The Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department plays a key role in maintaining this level of safety.

“Officers embrace the One-by-One Policing philosophy, an approach that emphasizes compassion, service and a commitment to personalized interactions with residents,” the report stated. “This philosophy is more than just a policing method; it is a mindset that prioritizes proactive engagement and trust-building within the community.”

However, law enforcement alone is not responsible for Fair Oaks Ranch’s safety. The report credits the community for playing an active role in crime prevention through shared responsibility.

“Simple actions, like locking doors, securing valuables and staying informed, all contribute to the city’s strong public safety record.”

The report cites collaboration between officers and residents for making “Fair Oaks Ranch not just a safe place, but a truly connected and engaged community.”

Fair Oaks Ranch will continue its efforts to invest in public safety and strengthen partnerships to ensure the community remains a great place to live, the report concludes.
