Craft lands Educator of the Year award from alma mater
Dr. Kristin Craft

Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Kristin Craft has been named a Distinguished Educator of the Year by her alma mater, Sam Houston State University.

Craft will be among five honored alumni at the SHSU College of Education’s 20th annual Distinguished Educator of the Year gala on March 29 on the campus in Huntsville.

“Great educators do more than teach. They spark change, inspire growth and leave a lasting impact on the world,” a SHSU press release stated.

“From counselors leading mental health initiatives to superintendents transforming entire school districts, these educators extend their influence far beyond the classroom, shaping the future of educational leadership for generations,” the release added.

The award is the highest honor the College of Education can bestow upon its graduates.

Garrett Wilson, Boerne ISD board of trustees president, congratulated Craft on behalf of the board and district.

“Her leadership, dedication to students, and support of staff and the entire Boerne community are obvious to all.” Wilson said. “In just over a year, she has helped us hone our vision and set a new course for our incredible district.

“It’s gratifying,” Wilson added, “that educational leaders in our state also recognize her excellence.”

Craft earned both her master’s degree in 2003 and her Doctorate of Education in 2011 from SHSU.
