Chargers shutout Mules, 7-0

Boerne Champion completed the sweep over the Alamo Heights baseball team last week.

After run ruling the Mules last Tuesday at home, the Chargers were in San Antonio Friday and recorded the shutout over AH, 7-0.

Champion is 4-1 in district and 14-4 overall after they also picked up a non-district win over La Vernia on Saturday.

Up next, the Chargers met the Greyhounds for the first time and played at BHS Tuesday and host Friday’s contest.

Champion did most of its damage in two innings with 3 runs in the third and 3 more in the fourth for the 6-0 lead against the Mules. The Chargers added an insurance run in the seventh to make it 7-0.

Champion finished with 5 hits, including a double from Garland Whitehead, who also took 2 walks, drove in a run and scored 2 runs, while Jaedyn Yamaguchi hit 2 singles and picked up 2 RBI.

Owen Kuhl was walked twice and scored a run, Sawyer Smith singled, walked, pushed in a run and scored 2 runs, Aidan Smith singled, walked and picked up an RBI, while Cal Isley walked and scored.

Aidan Smith gave up 2 hits and no runs in 5 innings of work, while striking out 6 and walking 1.

Parker Davis went the final 2 innings and completed the shutout. He gave up a hit and a walk and no runs.

Vs. La Vernia

The Chargers picked up a non-district win over La Vernia on Saturday, 15-0.

Andrew Harrison and Jaedyn Yamaguchi both recorded 2 hits, while Harrison, Austin Garritano and Cal Isley all scored 2 runs each.

Owen Kuhl doubled and picked up 2 RBI, while Parker Davis also collected 2 RBI.

Pearce Kelly went the distance on the hill and only gave up 1 hit. He tossed 89 pitches and walked 1 batter and struck out 5.
