Boerne High kicked off the second round of district softball Tuesday with an 18-1 thumping of the Wagner Thunderbirds last Friday.
The Lady Greyhounds recorded 20 hits and run ruled the Thunderbirds in three innings.
With last Friday’s road win, the Lady Greyhounds are 4-5 in district and 8-5 overall. Boerne hosted Kerrville Tivy Tuesday and visits Veterans Memorial Friday.
BHS sprinted out of the gate and scored 12 runs in the first inning after they batted 16. The Hounds used 8 singles, 3 doubles, a sac fly, an error and an Ava Renteria home run to push in its 12 runs.
Boerne added 6 more runs in the second and then didn’t score in the third but that’s where the game ended with a 15-run lead after Wagner didn’t score in the bottom of the inning. The T-Birds recorded their only run in the bottom of the first on consecutive singles.
Renteria homered, doubled and singled, scored 3 runs and picked up 2 RBI, Adysen Dixon singled, Cerissa Nasis hit 2 singles and scored 3 runs, while Brooklynn Thomason smacked 2 doubles and a single, scored 3 runs and picked up an RBI.
Lizzy Thornton hit 2 singles and pushed in a run, Riley Partin singled, scored and picked up an RBI, Emma Wright singled, had an RBI and scored 2 runs and Ryleigh Hastings singled, collected 3 RBI and scored once.
Leni Caldwell doubled and singled, scored twice and drove in 2 runs, Kenley Thomason doubled and singled, picked up an RBI and scored 2 runs and Tessa Murphy doubled and singled, pushed in 3 runs and scored 2 runs.
Jesseanna Aguirre tossed 3 innings and gave up 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and struck out 3.
