SAN ANTONIO – Before spring break, the Champion track and field teams were entered in the Mule Relays at Heroes Stadium where the boys were 1st with 183.33 points and the Lady Chargers finished 3rd with 86.50 points.
Champion returned to Heroes this weekend to participate in the NEISD Meet.
RESULTS (Top 6) Varsity Boys
Jamarri Bowie won the 100 dash with a time of 11.40 and Zachary Garcia tied with two others for 4th after he posted an 11.70.
Bowie struck for gold again in the 200 after he clocked in at 22.52, while Charlie Houck earned more first-place points for the team after he won the 1600 with a time of 4:29 and Shawn Edwards was 3rd in 4:35.
The Chargers went 1-2 in the 3200 after William Coover captured 1st by posting a 10:28 and Noah Moreno was 2nd in 10:47, while Landon Siwek finished 6th in the 110 hurdles after running a 17.80.
The Champion 4x100 relay came in 2nd after they combined for a 42.10, the 4x200 relay was 1st with a time of 1:31 and the 4x400 also captured 1st after they posted a 3:27, while in the 4,000-meter distance medley, the Chargers picked up more 1st-place team points after they won the race in a time of 10:39.

In field events, Jaxon Barnes took 2nd in the high jump after he cleared 6-0 and Corbin Buchanan placed 4th in the event after he went 5-10.
Dev Patel and Trenton Haddock went 5-6 in the triple jump after Patel registered a 38-8 for 5th and Haddock posted a 38-1.5 for 6th.
Landon Kolacny won the pole vault with a vault of 13-6, Matthew Beauregard placed 4th in the event after he went 12-0 and William Welter was 6th at 11-0.
Blake Stehling won the discus with a throw of 146-6 and Stehling also won the shot put with a toss of 54-5.
Varsity Girls
In the 4000-meter distance medley relay, Champion was 2nd with a 13:04, and in the 4x100 relay, the Chargers took 1st in 49.52, the 4x200 relay placed 2nd in 1:50, while the 4x400 relay finished 3rd after recording a 4:14.
Addison Davis finished 5th in the 100-meter hurdles with a 17.95 and Maelee Mares was 6th in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.71. Madison Meinke placed 6th in the 100 dash after posting a 13.31 and Michelle Cerna came in 5th in the 400 with a time of 1:03.
Payton Kidder claimed 1st in the 1600 after she ran a 5:29 and teammate Rebecca Bezerra was 5th with a time of 5:35.
In field events, Maelee Mares finished 3rd in the high jump after she cleared 4-10 and Mares also came in 4th in the triple jump with a distance of 32-2, while Bryn Colvin tied for 6th in the triple jump after she went 31-11.
In the shot put, Hannah Burkett heaved the shot 36-0 for 2nd and Lorena Barreiro- Bidot placed 5th in the event with a toss of 33-11.
