Eagle baseball team earns first win of season

The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team picked up its first win of the season after the Eagles run ruled Schertz John Paul II on Tuesday, 21-10.

Geneva (1-1) was in action Friday against Holy Cross and then visits Corpus Christi John Paul II on Tuesday.

The Eagles knocked out 20 hits in Tuesday’s game and scored in all five innings with a run in the first, 9 in the second, 8 in the third, 2 in the fourth and another in the fifth.

Schertz JPII tallied 8 of its 10 runs in the second and tacked on 2 more in the fourth.

Rooster Jons led the team at the plate after he finished with a home run, a double, 2 singles, 5 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Gray Bruner hit 2 doubles, took 2 walks, scored 3 runs and drove in a run, Brady Chandler hit a double and added 2 singles, pushed in a run and scored twice.

Chase Doran singled, picked up 2 RBI and scored 3 runs, Colton Lutz doubled and hit 3 singles, collected 3 RBI and scored twice, TJ Cross doubled and singled, pushed in 3 runs, Colton Lutz doubled and hit 3 singles, collected 3 RBI and scored twice, TJ Cross doubled and singled, pushed in 3 runs and scored a run.

Jake Roberson doubled, picked up an RBI and scored twice, Bryce Hanover singled, walked, drove in a run and scored twice, while Harris Priesmeyer hit 2 singles, pushed in 3 runs and scored three times.

Bruner was the winning pitcher and struck out 3, while Doran also tossed and fanned 3.

Geneva softball

The Geneva softball team was scheduled to play Schertz JP II, but they were on spring break and didn’t have enough to field a team and the game will be rescheduled.

Geneva did play Lutheran on Thursday and won, 22-6. For more on the game, see the Star.
