Comfort played the Llano softball team close in their first district meeting last week, but that wasn’t the case in their second league contest on Monday.
After losing to the Yellowjackets by a run last week (8-7), the Deer were runruled by Llano earlier this week, 16-1 in four innings.
Comfort slips to 3-14 overall and 0-2 in district. The Deer played a non-district game with Harper on Friday and resume district play this coming week with its Monday and Friday schedule.
The Deer host Florence on Monday and then visit the Lady Buffaloes on Friday.
Llano scored in every inning on Monday and tallied 6 runs in the first and third frames. They added another run in the second and 3 more in the fourth to kick in the mercy rule.
Comfort scored its lone run in the top of the fourth after they loaded the bases with no outs. Hope Van Geffen singled, Kaydence Stehling walked and Anna Munoz was hit by a pitch.
Van Geffen scored on a wild pitch and the next Comfort batter was also hit by a pitch and the Deer loaded the bases again with no outs, but Llano turned a double play and then their pitcher struck out the next batter to retire the side.
It was 13-1 after the Van Geffen run and then the Lady Yellowjackets put their first six batters on in the bottom of the fourth and scored 3 runs to end it.
Van Geffen singled and scored and Ella Thiele also recorded a hit for the Deer in the first inning.
Jordan Judkins took 2 walks, Stehling and Taygan Rust walked, while Munoz and Rust were hit by pitches.
Thiele tossed 103 pitches in the game, and she struck out 4 and walked 4.
