Boerne High's first-round playoff match with Liberty Hill went to a shootout where the Panthers were perfect and made all five penalty kicks to defeat the Greyhounds in the first round of the 5A-DII playoffs.
Thursday's match was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation and neither team scored in overtime so it went to a shootout where the Panthers went 5 for 5 to edge the Greyhounds.
Boerne missed its first kick but made three in a row after that and was trailing 4-3 after four kicks. Once Liberty Hill made its fifth kick there was no point for BHS to kick since they were down 5-3 with one kick left for the Greyhounds.
The Panthers stormed the field and to celebrate and will now play the winner of the Burbank - MacArthur match in the second round.
Boerne ends its season at 14-5-1 overall.
The Greyhounds scored its two goals in regulation on set pieces after they converted off a header and a throw-in, while the Panthers were awarded two penalty kicks and made both for fouls in the box. The Panthers were 7 for 7 on PKs in regulation and overtime in the match.
