After run-ruling the Veterans Memorial baseball team on Tuesday, Boerne High visited the Patriots on Thursday and did the same thing.
The Boerne baseballers followed up Tuesday’s 10-0 victory with a 16-4 win on Thursday. The Hounds put on a hitting clinic and knocked out 15 and Dylan Perez led the way after he hit for the cycle and finished with a home run, triple, double and single.
Boerne is 12-2 overall and 4-1 in district and enters the week ranked No. 3 in the latest Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association poll.
The Greyhounds play Smithson Valley in two games this week. They visit the Rangers Tuesday and host Smithson Valley Friday.
BHS scored 3 runs in the first inning against the Patriots last Thursday and then plated 9 runs in the second for the 12-0 lead.
The Hounds added 4 more runs in the fourth frame before Veterans Memorial tried to rally in the fifth to keep the game from ending and scored 4 but it wasn’t enough, and the mercy rule kicked in.
Perez tripled in the first, homered in the second, doubled in the third and singled in the fourth as he hit for the cycle by the fourth frame.
When Perez homered in the second, it was part of a 9-run inning that saw the Greyhounds bat 13 players. The first two BHS batters were retired by the Patriots in the inning and then Boerne put on 10 straight batters before Veterans Memorial could get the last out of the inning.
Besides the Dylan Perez homer in the second, there were triples from Brooks Perez and Jackson Grimes, while Brooks batted twice in the frame and also hit a double.
Hudson McNew doubled, while Ronnie Scarbrough, Walker Hill and Ryan Hooper all singled. Boerne also used a hit batter and a walk to put runners on base.
With his 4 hits, Dylan Perez finished with 6 RBI and 2 runs scored, Brooks Perez doubled and singled, scored twice and drove in 2 runs, Reese House singled and scored 3 runs, Colton Shaver hit a 3-RBI triple in the fourth inning and scored a run, while Hudson McNew doubled, took 2 walks and scored a run.
Ryan Hooper singled, drove in a run and scored, Jake Perez walked, pushed in a run and scored once, Jackson Grimes tripled, collected 2 RBI and scored a run, Otis Skubal walked and scored, Walker Hill singled, scored and picked up an RBI, Brandon Browning singled and scored and Ronnie Scarbrough hit 2 singles and plated a run.
Campbell Jackson went 3 innings on the hill and picked up the win on 46 pitches. He gave up 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4.
Eli Srp tossed an inning and yielded a hit and struck out a batter, while McNew also threw for one frame and surrendered 2 hits, 3 earned runs and walked 2.
