After playing in a tournament last weekend, the Boerne High baseball team resumed district play this week with two 26-5A games against Veterans Memorial.
BHS hosted the Patriots on Tuesday and picked up a 10-0 run-rule victory in five innings. They were at Veterans Memorial Thursday and the results weren’t much different after the Greyhounds won, 16-4.
The Greyhounds improved to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in district. BHS plays two games with Smithson Valley this coming week and visits the Rangers Tuesday and then hosts Smithson Valley Friday.
BHS 16, VM 4
Boerne turned Thursday’s game into batting practice after the Hounds banged out 15 hits, with 8 of them going for extra bases.
Dylan Perez hit for the cycle and recorded a homer, triple, double and single. He picked up 6 RBI and scored twice.
Brooks Perez, Colton Shaver and Jackson Grimes all tripled, while Brooks Perez and Hudson McNew doubled in the game.

BHS 10, VM 0
Boerne took control right away with 5 runs in the bottom of the first frame and the Hounds scored all 5 of its runs with two outs.
Three walks helped to load the bases and then a hit batter made it 1-0. Jackson Grimes singled and drove in 2 runs and Walker Hill also singled to bring in 2 more runs before the Patriots could retire the side.
In the third inning, Boerne again scored with two outs. Jake Perez singled, stole second and then Grimes recorded another RBI single to bump the lead to 6-0.
Dylan Perez led off the bottom of the fifth frame with a solo shot over the right-field wall and it was 7-0.
A Patriots error and a hit batter put on two more base runners for Boerne. Hudson McNew, who reached on the error, came home from third on a wild pitch to make it 8-0.
Another walk loaded the bases, and another hit batter brought in Ryan Hooper from third and it was 9-0.
From there, Jake Perez was at third and ended it after he scored on a passed ball for the final of 10-0.
Dylan Perez hit the solo shot, walked and scored twice, Brooks Perez walked and scored, McNew plated a run, Ryan Hooper was hit by a pitch, walked and scored 2 runs, Jake Perez was hit twice, singled, drove in a run and scored 3 times, Grimes helped his cause with 2 singles, collected 3 RBI and also scored a run, Hill had an RBI single and Ronnie Scarbrough was hit by a pitch and pushed in a run.
Grimes picked up the shutout victory on 83 pitches. He went all 5 innings and scattered 3 hits, gave up 3 walks and struck out 7 batters.
Grimes has all three district wins on the mound for the Hounds and has not allowed a run in 26-5A action so far.
