It was a rough outing for the Comfort softball team after they were run ruled by Lytle earlier this week in a non-district contest, 23-8.
Comfort is 3-13 overall and began district play on Friday at home against Llano.
Lytle scored in four of the five innings they batted. The Lady Pirates plated 5 runs in the first and second frames and pushed in 3 more in the third.
After not scoring in the fourth, Lytle had a big fifth frame and recorded 10 runs for the 23-4 lead.
Comfort still had to bat in the bottom half of the inning since they were the home team and matched what they had scored in the previous four frames with 4 runs, but it wasn’t enough to stop the mercy rule from kicking in.
Lytle recorded 18 hits, while Comfort finished with 8 base knocks. The Deer scored a run in the first, 3 more in the fourth and closed it out with 4 in the fifth.
Three of Comfort’s 8 hits were doubles after Anna Munoz doubled and singled and scored twice, Hope Van Geffen doubled and singled as well, while McKenzie Pankratz doubled, drove in a run, walked and scored a run.
Moorea Davis singled, pushed in a run and scored once, Kippy Sterling finished with 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 RBI and a run scored, Jordan Judkins took 2 walks, Ella Theile walked and collected an RBI and Kaydence Stehling walked once.
Thiele went 5.1 innings in the circle before the game ended and struck out 8 batters and walked 5.
