The Boerne High baseball team played in the San Marcos tournament last weekend where the Greyhounds posted a record of 3-1.
BHS is 10-2 overall and resumed district play Tuesday at home against Veterans Memorial. They’ll play the Patriots Thursday as well, 1 p.m. on the road, and are 2-1 in 26-5A going into Tuesday’s game.
The Greyhounds opened the tourney with a 12-4 loss to Harker Heights. It was a tough-luck setback after Boerne outhit their opponents, 8-4.
Ronnie Scarbrough doubled and singled, Jake Perez hit 2 singles and scored 2 runs, while Brooks Perez knocked out 2 singles and pushed in a run.
Asher Wren, Brandon Browning, Caden Guerrero and Kepa Kanae all tossed in the game. Browning fanned 2 batters in 2.1 innings of work and went the longest on the hill of the BHS pitchers.
Boerne bounced back on Friday and defeated Norman, Oklahoma, 8-6. The Hounds won it in the second with 5 runs in the inning.
Hudson McNew homered and scored twice, Brooks Perez tripled, scored 2 runs and picked up an RBI, Ryan Hooper collected 3 RBI and Jackson Grimes tripled and scored twice.
Campbell Jackson tossed 4 frames and picked up the win on 67 pitches after he gave up 5 hits, 4 earned runs and walked 3.
Eli Srp threw an inning and yielded 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and fanned 1.
Later on Friday, the Greyhounds rolled past the Sam Houston Texans from Arlington.
BHS scored 3 in the first, 2 in the second and 5 in the third for its 10 runs behind 9 hits.
Brooks Perez hit 2 doubles and a single, picked up an RBI and scored 3 runs, Dylan Perez tripled and singled, pushed in 2 runs and scored twice, while Walker Hill tripled, scored and collected an RBI.
Braden Ramirez went all 5 innings on bump and scattered 3 hits, no runs, no walks and struck out 3 to get the win.
In its final game, the Greyhounds defeated San Marcos, 9-6.
The Greyhounds were leading 5-2 after three innings and then both teams scored 4 runs in the fifth frame.
BHS knocked out 13 hits, including 5 doubles.
Brooks Perez hit two of the doubles to go with a single, pushed in 3 runs and scored twice, Jackson Grimes doubled and scored, Reese House doubled and singled, took 2 walks and scored twice, Ronnie Scarbrough doubled and picked up an RBI.
Hudson McNew hit 2 singles and collected 3 RBI, while Walker Hill hit 2 singles and scored twice.
McNew started on the hill and went 3.1 innings to get the win after he struck out 4. Dylan Perez, Asher Wren and Brandon Browning all threw in the game as well.
