Lady Mules run rule Boerne softball team

Friday’s softball game between Boerne High and Alamo Heights slipped away from the Lady Greyhounds after the Lady Mules recorded a couple of big innings.

Alamo Heights tallied 3 runs in the first frame, 4 in the second and then blew it open with 7 more in the third for the 14-0 lead.

The Mules added another run in the fourth inning to kick in the mercy rule and defeat the Lady Hounds, 15-0.

BHS is 2-4 in district and 6-4 overall. The Greyhounds are off Tuesday and host Pieper Friday, 5:30 p.m. There will be no JV Friday.

Alamo Heights hit it well last Friday and tallied 15 hits on its way to its 15 runs.

The Lady Hounds had 2 hits in Friday’s game after Ava Renteria doubled to start the game. She made it to third but was stranded there.

In the second, Lizzy Thornton singled to start the frame and her courtesy runner, Kenley Thomason, moved to second on a sac bunt by Ryleigh Hastings, but Thomason was stranded at second.

BHS had two others reach on a walk and an error to account for all their base runners.

Jesseanna Aguirre and Cerissa Nasis both pitched in the game for the Greyhounds, with Aguirre throwing 47 pitches and Nasis tossing 36 pitches.
