After a few weather delays, the Champion track and field teams were back in action at the recent Northside ISD meet.
The Chargers were at a meet last week as well, held by Alamo Heights at Heroes Stadium.
At Northside, the Lady Chargers won the event with 187 points, while the boys were second with 116 points behind Steele which tallied 160 points.
RESULTS: Varsity Girls
Madison Meinke won the 100 dash in 12.86 and Holly Winkenhower was 2nd in 13.07, and in the 200, Meinke placed 4th in 26.97 behind teammate Juliana Syroney who was 3rd at 26.93.
Payton Kidder won the 800 with a time of 2:22, Madison Mungia came in 4th in 2:29.28 and Michelle Cerna was 5th in 2:29.44.
Kidder also took 1st in the 1600 after posting a 5:24.21 and Rebecca Bezerra came in 5th at 5:36, while Bezerra also won the 3200 with a time of 11:53.72.
Addison Davis placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles after she clocked in at 17.53 and Kinsley Graff was 4th in the event at 18.09.
Graff took 2nd in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.99, Davis was 4th in 50.28 and Maelee Mares finished 5th in 50.40.
Champion’s 4x100 of Madison Meinke, Mikayla Green, Holly Winkenhower and Juliana Syroney teamed up for 2nd with a time of 49.53, while the 4x200 of Winkenhower, Green, Syroney and Kinsley Graff combined for 2nd after posting a 1:46.73.
Green, Amora Cummings, Michelle Cerna and Addison Davis capped off the relays with a 1st-place showing in the 4x400 after they recorded a 4:11.80.
Maelee Mares won the high jump after she cleared 4-10, Bryn Colvin placed 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 15-09.25 and Mares was 6th at 15-01.75.
Hannah Burkett threw the shot put 34-03.25 for 2nd, Burkett won the discus with a measurement of 102-04, while Cameron Wampler took 2nd with a toss of 98-08.
Varsity Boys
Jamarri Bowie placed 4th in the 100 dash with a time of 11.19, Caleb Dehart came in 4th in the 400 after posting a 51.13 and Bowie was 5th in the 400 at 51.14.
Luis Tovar clocked in at 1:58 in the 800 for 3rd, Charlie Houck was 2nd in the 1600 with a time of 4:25 and Shawn Edwards came in 4th at 4:32.
Houck won the 3200 after recording a 9:27 and Edwards finished 5th at 9:50.
The 4x100 relay of Zachary Garcia, Cal Isley, Brogan Dempsey and Juan Nava teamed up for 3rd with a time of 43.35, while the 4x200 of Hayden Fridley, Nava, Garcia and Dempsey also came in 3rd after combining for a 1:31.08.
In the 4x400, Luis Tobar, Jamarri Bowie, Hayden Fridley and Jaxon Harbuck posted a 3:27.14 that was good enough for 2nd.
Christopher Buchanan was 2nd in the high jump after he cleared 6-2, Landon Kolacny took 2nd in the pole vault with a vault of 13-06 and William Welter placed 4th in the event after he went 11-06.
Blake Stehling won the shot put with a heave of 45-01.25 and Stehling also came in 3rd in the discus with a toss of 136-06.
