Comfort kept up with Fredericksburg baseball team in total hits after the Billies only had one more hit than the Bobcats (8-7) in Tuesday’s contest in Comfort.
However, the Bobcats struggled to keep up with Fredericksburg on the scoreboard after the Billies went on to beat the Bobcats, 10-2.
Comfort is 5-3 overall and played St. Mary’s Hall Friday and hosted Cornerstone on Saturday, 12 p.m. They are at Bandera Tuesday.
Four hit batters and a walk in the top of the first frame helped the Billies take the early 3-0 lead.
Fred added single runs in the third through fifth frames to open up a 6-0 lead before Comfort responded.
In the bottom of the fifth, a double by Noah Bohnert, followed by singles from Mason Matt, Gunner Carpenter and Tucker Rust made it 6-2 with only one out, but the Bobcats couldn’t manufacture any more runs from there.
Fredericksburg picked up 4 more runs in the top of the sixth after they sent 9 batters to the plate and hit 2 doubles, had two more hit batters, knocked out a single and used a walk to score its 4 runs.
Rust, Zach Jones and Judd Lozano all tossed in the game for the Bobcats.
Matt finished with 3 of the team’s 7 hits in the contest.
