Comfort High was entered in the Blanco softball tournament last weekend and then walloped Bandera Tuesday night.
The Deer destroyed the Bulldogs in three innings, 20-3 and is 3-11 overall. They played at Hondo on Friday.
Both teams had a good first inning after Comfort scored 5 runs and the Bulldogs answered with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it 5-3.
But that’s where the scoring ended for Bandera, while the Deer plated 11 runs in the top of the second and 4 more runs in the third to kick in the mercy rule.
Comfort finished with 15 hits and every starter had a base knock in the game.
Kippy Sterling singled and scored 3 runs, Jordan Judkins singled, collected 2 RBI and scored 3 times, Ella Thiele doubled and singled, scored twice and picked up 2 RBI, Hope Van Geffen tripled and hit 2 singles, drove in 3 runs and scored twice, while Kaydence Stehling singled, pushed in 3 runs and scored twice.
Taygan Rust recorded 2 singles, picked up 2 RBI and scored 3 times, Anna Munoz hit 2 singles, drove in a run and scored once, Lilah Bohnert hit 2 singles, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBI, while Moorea Davis double, pushed in 3 runs and scored twice.
Thiele thew 50 pitches and picked up the win after she gave up 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and fanned 4.
Blanco tourney
It was a tough weekend for the Deer after they went 0-5 at the Blanco tourney last weekend, although Comfort lost a contest by one run and also dropped another game by just three runs.
The Deer were edged by Natalia in their tourney opener on Friday, 5-4, and lost the game in the last inning after the Mustangs scored two runs in their last at bats.
Hope Van Geffen had a triple for the Deer to go with a single and she picked up an RBI.
Later on Friday, Comfort played San Antonio Christian and was runruled 13-3.
Ella Thiele, Taygan Rust and McKenzie Pankratz all doubled in the game for CHS.
Comfort returned on Saturday and mixed it up with Marion and lost 8-1.
Kaydence Stehling scored their only run on the RBI single from Raquelle Ibarra.
Later on Friday, the Deer lost to Canyon Lake, 10-2, and scored its 2 runs in its last at bat.
Comfort closed out the tourney with a 9-6 loss to St. Anthony. The Deer were down 9-2 and began a comeback in their last at bat by scoring 4 runs but the rally came up short.
Kaydence Stehling legged out a triple and Jordan Judkins plated 2 of their 6 runs.
