The Boerne High boys soccer team hosted the Chargers at Boerne ISD Stadium last Friday and the Greyhounds took advantage of a couple of quick goals in the first half to seize control.
BHS scored two goals in about a minute for the early 2-0 lead and never looked back. The Greyhounds went on to post a 6-2 victory and also completed the season sweep over the Chargers.
Boerne is 10-2-1 in district (12-3-1 overall) and currently stands in second place. The Chargers are 2-6-5 in 26-5A and (2-9-5 overall).
Champion hosted Pieper, which enters the contest undefeated at 13-0 and then visits New Braunfels Friday.
The Greyhounds visited Alamo Heights Tuesday and are off Friday.
Felix Theiss finished a corner kick in the 29th minute and then a minute later Theiss scored again on another header at the 27:59 mark for the quick 2-0 lead.
The Greyhounds added another goal in the 21st minute and took a 3-0 advantage into halftime.
Champion was able to get its offense going in the second half, but the Greyhounds kept their foot on the gas pedal and outscored the Chargers 3-2 in the final 40 minutes.
Theiss finished with 2 goals for the Greyhounds, while Liam Griffiths, Austin Vecino, JP Santa Maria and Ramzy Handal all added 1 goal each. Shae Gonzales tallied 2 assists, while Griffiths and Santa Maria had 1 one assist apiece.
For Champion, Luka Hahn recorded both their goals on assists from Nathan Bell and Bentley McCool.
