After two seasons as the head football coach at Geneva School of Boerne, Grant Gaston is stepping away from that position and has accepted a job in Longview.
Gaston has taken a position at Christian Heritage Classical School in Longview where he will serve as the athletic director and coach the 6-man football team.
The coach and former lawyer said he loves the job at Geneva but his immediate family is still in the Longview area because of his wife’s job situation and felt it was time to move back to that part of the state.
Gaston said his family saw each other whenever they could and talked on the phone but knew it wasn’t enough.
Gaston said he informed the team Monday morning in what turned into an emotional meeting. He also sent a letter to his football parents to thank them for their hospitality and let them know he was going to miss them. “After much prayer and deliberation, it is clear that I need to be reunited with my family, who has been so gracious to share me with you for the last two years,” part of the letter said. “You have been my family while I have been away from my family. You have offered homes, loaned vehicles, provided food, delivered support and encouragement, and led Bible studies.”
Gaston led the Eagles to two winning seasons in his time with Geneva. They were 6-5 in 2024 and 7-5 in 2023.
They were Area champs in 2023 and their consecutive winning seasons marked the first time that has happened with the Geneva football program since 2018-19.
