Geneva girls basketball falls in TAPPS title game, Eagles girls soccer headed to state tourney

Lubbock Christian used a late rally to defeat the Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team in Friday’s TAPPS 4A state finals.

The Lubbock school was up 37- 36 with 3:30 left and outscored Geneva 6-3 in the final 90 seconds and went on to claim the title with a final of 43-39.

Geneva ends the season at 30-5 and finishes as the state runner up and returns to Boerne will silver medals.

It’s the fifth straight title by Lubbock Christian.

Maegan Riebel led the Eagles with 16 points and Kyra Petty added 11 with 8 of those coming in the fourth quarter as Geneva tried to rally.

Geneva girls soccer

The Geneva girls soccer squad won Thursday’s regional finals match over New Braunfels Christian Academy held at Blossom, 4-0.

With the win, Geneva advances to the TAPPS state tournament scheduled for March 4-5 in Round Rock.
