The Boerne bats were kept quiet Tuesday night when the Lady Greyhound softball team hosted Veterans Memorial in a district game.

Boerne was held without a hit or a run by Patriots pitcher Kyani Morn as Veterans Memorial went on to post an 8-0 victory.

The Lady Greyhounds are 5-2 overall and 1-2 in district. Things didn’t get any easier for the Boerne girls after they visited Smithson Valley Friday. They’ll host Champion Tuesday in the first-ever meeting between the BISD schools.

Morn brought the good stuff Tuesday and struck out 9 batters and was two walks away from a perfect game. Ava Renteria walked in the first frame and moved to second on a wild pitch. Breanna Krause sacrificed Renteria to third with a bunt for the first out, but Morn buckled down and fanned the next two BHS batters to end the threat with Renteria at third.

Leni Caldwell walk in the second with two outs but was tagged out on the base paths to retire the side.

After that, Boerne went down in order over the next five innings.

Veterans Memorial scored 3 runs in the first, 2 in the third, 2 more in the fifth and closed it out with a run in the top of the seventh.

The Patriots received a solo home run from Lara Ramos in the fifth. Ramos also doubled in the game, while Morn helped her cause with a double and Natalia Allen doubled as well.

Jesseanna Aguirre went all 7 innings in the circle and gave up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 5 walks and she struck out a batter.
