After having last Friday off for their second-round byes, the Boerne Champion soccer teams were back on the field Tuesday with district matches against Alamo Heights.

The Champion boys hosted the Mules and the Lady Chargers were in San Antonio to face AH.

Champion continued 26-5A play Friday by taking on crosstown rival Boerne High.

Varsity Boys

The Mules defeated Champion at Charger Field, 4-1.

Champion drops to 2-5-4 in district and is 2-8-5 overall. The Chargers were at Boerne High to take on the Greyhounds at Boerne ISD Stadium on Friday.

Alamo Heights held a 1-0 lead and then added three more goals, while the Chargers recorded their only goal of the match from Ethan Souza, assisted by Ryder Misola.

Champion has five matches left in the regular season with BHS, Pieper, New Braunfels, Wagner and Kerrville Tivy.

The Chargers are currently sitting in seventh place in 26-5A entering Friday.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Mules were in the driver’s seat by halftime with four first-half goals and went on to defeat the Lady Chargers, 5-1.

Champion slips to 5-5-1 in district and has dropped its last two in 26-5A.

The Lady Chargers are 6-8-1 overall and hosted Boerne High Friday. They defeated the Lady Hounds in the first round and were looking for the sweep.

At 5-5-1, Champion is sitting in sixth place in 26-5A, just behind New Braunfels in fifth at 6-4-1, while Boerne High is 8-4 and tied with Alamo Heights.

In Tuesday’s match in San Antonio, Maggie Hall tallied Champion’s only goal against the Mules.
