Comfort was entered in the Three Rivers baseball tournament last weekend and played two games Friday but the rest of the tourney was called off due to the weather.
Two games is better than none and the good news for the Bobcats is that they won both those contests after picking up victories over Kenedy and Stockdale.
Comfort stands at 3-0 and visited TMI – Episcopal Tuesday before playing in the Sonora tournament this weekend. They’ll open Friday with Presidio.
Both the Comfort wins in Three Rivers were by one run, 7-6 over Kenedy and 8-7 over Stockdale.
Vs. Kenedy
Comfort was trailing 6-4 going into its last at bats and the Bobcats came through with 3 runs to pull ahead 7-6, before it was called due to time limit.
Gunner Carpenter and Mason Matt both singled for the Cats, while Tucker Rust doubled to account for their 3 hits in the game.
Carpenter picked up 2 RBI and scored a run, Matt also drove in a run and scored and Rust picked up an RBI.
Mason Matter and Noah Bohnert scored 2 runs each and Judd Lozano plated a run.
Rust, Matter and Carpenter all pitched in the 4-inning game.
Carpenter picked up the win after he was the pitcher of record when the Cats took the lead and fanned 2 batters.
Vs. Stockdale
Both Stockdale and Comfort had fast starts with Stockdale scoring 4 runs in its first at bat, while Comfort answered with 5 runs in the bottom of the frame for the 5-4 lead.
The Brahmas pulled ahead in the top of the second with 3 more runs for the 7-5 advantage but the Bobcats closed it out with 3 runs in its last at bat in the bottom of the third before time ran out.
Brooks Davis, Tucker Rust, Dax Stehling and Noah Bohnert all knocked out singles, while Mason Matt, Davis, Carpenter, Mason Matter, Dax Stehling, Bohnert and Rhyder George all scored runs.
Stehling drove in 2 runs, while Hayes Hallmark, Rust, Carpenter, Davis and Matt all pushed in runs.
Zach Jones, Cade Woerner and Judd Lozano all tossed an inning with Lozano picking up the win after he gave up a hit, no runs and struck out 2.
